Hard to believe, but Emily and Becca have wiggly teeth. All too soon their smiles will change and empty spaces will take over until teeth tooooooo big for their little mouths appear. And theirs has started.
Both girls were worried they loose their teeth while Daddy and Jacob were in California this weekend, so we worked on them... pushing forward and back and twisting little teeth that are hard to get a hold of.
On Monday night, Emily was pretty sure she wanted hers out - "tonight". So we pushed and pulled and mom grabbed tight and I pulled it out! Just a little blood and so much excitement, amazing that a little tooth holds that much potential for a 5 yr old.
Becca didn't want to be left out, but she's recently been to the dentist for fillings and she was a little bit leery of the potential pain and unknown side effects of pulling the tooth. But if the tooth fairy came and only Emily had a tooth under her pillow - it might be too much to bear in the morning...so Becca was brave.
We pushed and pulled and twisted a bit more and then I pulled it out. It bled a lot more than Emily's. There were tears, but it was out. Now everyone would get to put that precious little incisor under their pillow to be replaced in the night by a thief, willing to pay for her addiction.
Everyone went to bed a little happier and excited for the new mornings booty.
But as the parents were preparing for their own nite-nites, the daddy says, "You know Becca's tooth wasn't ready."
Yeah - I know, but what's a mom to do? They are twins... and in the heat of the moment, I pulled so they could share this moment.
The other 19 will have to fall out on their own. I will not be pulling any teeth.
But you know me, I'm a picker and I might have to help.
